A climate project should be able to show its work. GoC5 has not launched, so there are no real-world impact results to report, and we will not invent any. This page explains how we plan to handle numbers once there is something to measure.
What the preview shows
Every CO2, money and tree figure you see on this site is an illustrative estimate used to make the experience tangible. Each habit has a simple example value (for instance 2.4 kg CO2 for a clean commute) that is easy to understand, not a measurement of your actual footprint.
| Habit | Example estimate | Points |
|---|---|---|
| Clean Commute | 2.4 kg CO2 | +50 $C5 |
| Plant Fuel | 1.8 kg CO2 | +50 $C5 |
| Power Saver | 1.1 kg CO2 | +50 $C5 |
| Circular Gear | 1.5 kg CO2 | +50 $C5 |
| Rewild Earth | 3.2 kg CO2 | +50 $C5 |
Our principles for a launch version
- Name the method. Publish the formulas, assumptions and public data sources behind each estimate, and version them.
- Show ranges. Real footprints vary by distance, grid, diet and region, so results should show ranges and local factors where possible.
- Separate habits from offsets. Personal habit estimates must never be presented as certified carbon credits.
- Verify proportionately. Self-reporting is fine for tiny habits; larger rewards should require stronger checks, such as optional receipts or device data that users choose to share.
- Vet partners. Rewards and planting partners must publish how they work. See Rewilding Partners.
- Report publicly. Publish an annual report including methods, totals, partner outcomes and mistakes.
What we do not claim
- We do not claim any member counts, kilograms of CO2 prevented, trees planted or money saved by real people.
- We do not claim partnerships with any named company.
- We do not claim the preview offsets any emissions.
