The Open Impact API is a proposal, not a product. The idea: if GoC5 ever collects habit data, aggregated and anonymous totals should be available to researchers, cities and community groups, in a format anyone can check.
Design goals
- Aggregate only. No personal data, no individual logs, and a minimum group size before any total is published.
- Methods included. Every figure carries the method version that produced it.
- Plain JSON over HTTPS. Easy to use from a spreadsheet or a script.
- Free for non-commercial use. With fair-use limits.
A sketch of what a response could look like
The example below is a made-up illustration of a schema. It is not real data and no endpoint exists.

- What minimum group size protects privacy?
- How should uncertain estimates be expressed?
- Who audits the method?
