Cradle of Filth‘s new album has a title and a release window. One thing it doesn’t have, though, is a collaboration with Ed Sheeran.

As previously reported, the extreme metal vets teamed up with Sheeran for a song after the pop star was quoted as wanting to record a metal album of his own. It was at one time set to be included on the next Cradle record, but as frontman Dani Filth now tells Metal Hammer, plans have changed.

“We don’t want it to overshadow the record,” Filth explains. “But we are going to bring it out. Originally, everybody wanted us to bring it out to glorious fanfare but Ed’s management weren’t keen on that.”

“We’re not absolutely sure how it will emerge, but it’s been done, mixed and it’s sitting on the shelf somewhere … you know, virtually,” he continues. “And it’s f****** fantastic. But only a handful of people have actually heard it. My mum hasn’t even heard it.”

As for the Cradle album, it’s called The Screaming of the Valkyries and is due out the beginning of April.
