The New York Yankees became one of the most active teams this offseason. They have signed multiple free agents to their starting roster as they look for another World Series run in 2025. Juan Soto is long gone, as many believe they did a better job with their new acquisitions.
The Yanks are still exploring options for their third baseman. Alex Bregman was one of the top free agents expected to fit the bill. Yet, the Bronx Bombers seemed to have turned away from Bregman. Brian Cashman and his squad signed Cody Bellinger and Paul Goldschmidt.
The latest rumors suggest the Yankees are falling apart from Bregam and are predicted to look at internal options. The Yanks have enough players internally to mix things up. Jazz Chisholm Jr. is flexible enough to play in a few positions. That said, they are expected to turn towards veteran slugger DJ LeMahieu.
With the team shying away from Anthony Rizzo, they might bring back LeMahieu into the starting roster. The Yanks have more options to explore apart from LeMahieu. Oswaldo Cabrera is the other option as the team’s third baseman.
Yankees Could Make Use Of Cabrera Instead Of Alex Bregman
It makes sense for the Yanks to put Cabrera to use for the 2025 season. Cabrera has done a fine job, and they might consider going with him instead of Bregman. The Yanks have spent quite a bit this offseason. Playing with Cabrera will help the team financially, making room to explore other players.

Bregman will come at a steep price, which the Yanks might avoid. According to MLB insider Joel Sherman, LeMahieu will be considered for 2025.
“I think they’re going to try to take another look at LeMahieu. And if they’re taking a look at LeMahieu, I would think, playing third base, where I think even when he was a bad hitter the last few years he remained a very good defensive third baseman,” Sherman said via MLB.
It makes sense for the Yankees, especially after they have added several key players to their team. Bregman to the Bronx can be a bit out of hand right now since they have enough players internally. On the other hand, Jurickson Profar’s rumors have taken a new twist with his free agency.
