Los Angeles Dodgers general manager Brandon Gomes offered a massive update on the recovery progress of superstar Shohei Ohtani’s left shoulder on Sunday.
“He hasn’t hit a ball yet, but he’s making good progress. Spring training is coming up soon, so we’ll be keeping a close eye on his condition.” Brandom Gomes said, via Yahoo! Sports

The injury in question was sustained by Ohtani against the New York Yankees during the second game of the World Series at Dodger Stadium as he landed awkwardly while attempting to steal second base. He immediately left the field in apparently a lot of pain, which was a huge cause for concern for Dodgers fans.
Although there were obvious concerns that the injury would sideline Ohtani for the remaining games of the Fall Classic, he was able to play for the remaining three games as the Dodgers went on to win 4-1. With the season done and plenty of time available to rest and recover, Ohtani underwent surgery to repair his labrum on Nov. 5.
Shohei Ohtani spotted pitching at Maranatha High School in Los Angeles
Having undergone his second Tommy John surgery in September of 2023, Shohei Ohtani did not pitch or play defense for the Dodgers in 2024, instead playing only as a designated hitter. However, with his highly anticipated return to the mound scheduled for the 2025 season, he was recently spotted pitching at Maranatha High School in Los Angeles, according to a tweet on Sunday.
The video makes for pleasant watching for Dodgers fans as it appears that Ohtani’s rehab from the recent shoulder surgery is progressing well.
Having enjoyed a near-perfect 2024 season, where he won pretty much everything there is to win both individually and with his team, Dodgers fans will be hoping that Shohei Ohtani can pick up where he left off and make the 2025 campaign another memorable one.
