That injury is taking a long time to heal. Full story below:
On December 7, Washington Capitals forward Tom Wilson suffered a small fracture in the sinus cavity of his face after taking his teammate Jacob Chychrun’s wrist shot to the cheek. The puck broke through one of the bones in his sinus cavity, resulting in pain and significant swelling as he met with media members afterwards with a deformed cheek.
Wilson missed all of a few minutes before returning and playing through it and even ended up scoring two goals in the process. He did not miss any time due to the injury. But on Friday, Wilson revealed to reporters that he was still blowing blood out of his nose, adding that it will probably be recurring for some time, but otherwise he feels better.
Wilson has been told to wear the bubble mask for four weeks, and let’s hope his nose does not start bleeding during games.
The Capitals are back in action on Saturday against the Toronto Maple Leafs. Wilson has 13 goals and 24 points in 34 games this season.
