Remy Ma and Papoose have been together as a couple for a long time — but a recent battle rap incident has had the block buzzing, and not in a good way.
According to The Star Report, the trouble started last Saturday (June 17) at a Chrome 23 battle rap event called #TheGrudgeCard. Founded by the former Terror Squad rapper, Chrome 23 apparently didn’t promote #TheGrudgeCard well enough and people at the event were allegedly getting antsy because of the “lackluster” performances.
What’s more, Eazy The Block Captain — a battle rapper and a longtime participant in Chrome 23 live battle rap matches — was reportedly getting “too cozy” with Remy Ma at the event, which allegedly led to a scuffle.
“I see Papoose, and it was kind of like an aggressive motion,” a caller into The Star Report claimed during his show on Sunday (June 18). “And Papoose swings. The next thing I know, Eazy was on the floor, and it was a lot of commotion. And people were running out of the room. Remy came in, and her security came behind her. And then they closed the door and they were arguing.”
The caller continued: “So this whole ‘it didn’t happen’ is bullshit. He did go night-night. Papoose put Eazy The Block Captain to sleep last night. What it was about, I don’t know, but he was playing Remy very close last night. A little too close for comfort.”
Remy Ma, however, took to her Twitter to deny the claims. “I’d like to apologize to everyone that was disappointed tonight because we couldn’t get 3 full rounds from all the opponents… I tried…and can y’all pleasee STOP with the Eazy & Pap LIES,” she tweeted. “There’s NO place like Chrome! Right back at it ; see y’all in August #Chrome23.”
Despite this latest bit of drama, Remy Ma and Papoose still seem to be going strong. Back in May, Papoose took to Instagram to post a tender message on Remy Ma’s birthday.
“Happy born day to 1 of the best mothers/wives I know,” the rapper said. “The Queen of all Queens. @remyma We too solid!! They can’t penetrate steel with wood babe.”
After Papoose showered his wife with birthday libations, many fans and celebrities took to the comments section to take part in wishing Remy Ma a Happy Birthday as well.
Memphis Bleek said: “Happy Birthday to your Queen,” while Fat Joe simply added a gang of fire emojis. One fan left a lengthy message that honored the longtime couple on Remy Ma’s birthday.
“I’ve always been of fan of the REAL QUEEN [Crown emoji] of HipHop!!!,” the fan said. “The Love & bond that surrounds The Black Love circle has always been inspirational & a strong bond!!! Happy Birthday @remyma One of the first [one finger emoji] best n this game, Enjoy ur day to the fullest sweetie.”
