Ne-Yo has admitted that things wouldn’t work if he and Taylor Swift were ever to date, claiming that he would ruin her career.

The “Because of You” singer joined Shannon Sharpe’s Club Shay Shay podcast for a new interview published on Monday (May 29), where Ne-Yo and the NFL Hall-of-Famer dove into the artist’s love life as a single man amid his recent divorce.

Sharpe proposed the idea of Ne-Yo trying to woo Swift into a relationship but the R&B artist quickly shut him down because he’s too “toxic” for the “Bad Blood” singer.

“You and Taylor Swift would make a cute couple,” Sharpe said, which drew a laugh out of Ne-Yo.

“Taylor don’t want me I’m toxic,” he replied. “She don’t want me. I’ll mess all that up for you, Taylor. All love.”

Sharpe’s comment section lit Ne-Yo up for embracing the toxic label well into his 40’s.

“Mane 45 years talking about I’m toxic. Grow up and get a new hat,” one person wrote, while another added: “This n-gga think he’d have a chance wit her!”

The 43-year-old and his ex-wife Crystal Renay finalized their divorce in February, which resulted in Ne-Yo coughing up nearly $2million along with one of their four Georgia homes.

While he’s still single now, Ne-Yo admitted he’s open to dating fans. “Somebody on my level kind of understands that plight of what I go through just as a celebrity,” he said of a possible partner. “But at the same time, we’re weirdos. Us celebrities, we’re weirdos. So I like normal people. I’m okay with going for just regular people.”

As for Taylor Swift, she’s been rumored to have moved on from Joe Alwyn after six years together and is said to be dating The 1975’s Matt Healy.

Nick Cannon even threw his name into the discussion of adding Swift to his lineup of baby mothers for future child No. 13.

“Absolutely,” Cannon told Howard Stern last month. “I’m in, let’s go! That’s the one. I’m all in! … First of all, she’s an amazing songwriter and what I do love about Taylor Swift is the fact that she has been so vulnerable and open with all of her music since a young girl.

“And she’s kinda like me. Me and Taylor’s numbers is very similar when we talk about being in these streets! So I think she would relate to me very well based off of like, ‘Yo, you’ve dated a lot of people in the public eye, so have I.’ So we probably would really understand each other.”
