“Matt Rempe Reveals All on Latest Controversial Suspension, NHL Future in Jeopardy!”

Matt Rempe just served an eight-game suspension for another dirty hit, and now he’s addressed the situation for the first time since returning from suspension as he looks towards his future in the league if he doesn’t change his play style.

Rangers Matt Rempe Suspended for 8 games After Controversial Hit in NHL Return - The Playoffs

The New York Rangers seemingly found a dominant force a season ago in 6-foot-7 Matt Rempe, but time and time again, the 23-year old has shown he doesn’t have the discipline to play at the NHL level as of yet, with four game misconducts and eight major penalties in just 22 games thus far.

Following a hit to Dallas’ Miro Heiskanen, Rempe was given an eight-game suspension, the largest of his career in the NHL thus far, with NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman making a major statement about Rempe’s future in the league.

Now, for the first time since returning from suspension, Rempe has talked to the media, and it appears he’s heard the criticisms and comments about his game, as he’s aware that he’s now a marked man for opponents and the officials.

“Can’t happen again or it’s going to be a huge suspension. … I’m a marked man right now.”

This is what fans and analysts have been saying since Rempe was thrust into the NHL spotlight a season ago, with the belief being that if he doesn’t control his hitting and fighting, he would have a very short shelf life in the NHL.

Despite being assigned to the Hartford Wolf Pack of the AHL, Rempe has now been recalled to the Rangers, suggesting we may see him again in the near future, and while he’s likely not going to change his play style, he will need to temper himself, or as he said, he may be facing a very, very long suspension
