RHP Walker Buehler offered his thoughts after leaving the Dodgers to sign with the Red Sox as a free agent this offseason. He signed a one-year, $21.05 million deal to switch over to Fenway Park. His Boston contract includes $3.05 million signing bonus, $3 million buyout mutual option and $15 million as base salary.
The contract also has a $25 million mutual option for the 2026 MLB season. The Red Sox dropped a hype video to announce Walker Buehler’s signing, where Buehler can be heard speaking about his decision to sign with Boston:
“Joining a winning franchise, and a historical franchise, and a team that has a real chance to win, I think was the best option for me. Hopefully, I bring some value this year and get to play the rest of my career in Boston.
Buehler even voiced praise on the young talent at Boston and also praised the ballclub for possessing a real fighting spirit both in the AL East division and the league overall.
“A lot of young talent in Boston, and a lot of Major League proven talent, and you know a team that I think is ready and able to compete in the division and in the whole league.
“Red Sox dropped a hype tape for the Walker Buehler signing.”
Buehler spent seven seasons in Los Angeles pitching for the Dodgers in the big leagues. He is a two-time All-Star and also won the Fall Classic twice with LAD in 2020 and 2024. He also earned the maiden nod to the All-MLB First team in 2021.
Despite missing almost two seasons in LA due to various injuries, he has largely showcased his skills and talents whenever he started at the mound in the last seven years.

Walker Buehler took to social media on Dec. 28 to share his excitement of pitching inside the Fenway Park after signing a one-year deal with the Red Sox. The caption on his social media post:
“What up Boston? #0 here… See y’all soon.”
The 30-year old RHP struggled during the regular season, finsihing with a 1-6 record in 16 starts for the Dodgers in 2024. He made some impressive starts during the postseason and went 1-1 through four starts, which included closing out Game 5 of the World Series.
