The Los Angeles Dodgers are on a mission to develop a dynasty by winning consecutive World Series games. After adding several key pieces to their starting lineup, they want to bring in some of their old players.
The franchise has played smart this offseason by taking advantage of its fame. Several players agreed to sign with the team despite deferring money on their contracts. The Boys in Blue extended some of their players and brought back some from last year.
Likewise, they did well to get rid of players who weren’t performing well. The Dodgers recently parted ways with Gavin Lux by sending him to the Cincinnati Reds. They brought back Teoscar Hernandez and are now predicted to trade Chris Taylor.
After struggling to perform, Taylor did not have a great season in Dodger Blue. Age has been a slight concern for the slugger, but most of all, his position seemed redundant. Taylor hit only four home runs in 2024 with a .202 batting clip. With several players performing at their peak, it’s hard to see the team retain Taylor in his age-34 season.
Dodgers Set To Bring In Free Agent Kike Hernandez
Hernandez had a strong season compared to Taylor. Being a utility player has given Hernandez a slight advantage. Moreover, he’s performed well when they needed him the most, especially in the playoffs and the World Series.

MLB reporter Sonja Chen believes the Dodgers cannot have Tayler and Hernandez. Hence, they would opt for the better slugger, Hernandez.
“It’s difficult to see how L.A. could have both Taylor and, say, Hernandez — who is still a free agent — on the roster,” Chen said via Bolavip.
A few teams have shown interest in signing Hernandez. The slugger wants to return to Los Angeles but is waiting for the right opportunity. The Dodgers are not going to give him a long-term contract. As many predict, Hernandez will only land a short-term deal with the team. Apart from Taylor, they are also predicted to part ways with Miguel Cabrera and James Outman.
There is plenty of time for the team to make more moves. The franchise is expected to pull off another big move before spring training.
