Basketball fans are using the same single word to describe the Toronto Raptors-New York Knicks blockbuster trade on Saturday.
The two Atlantic Division rivals agreed to a massive deal on Saturday that has R.J. Barrett, Immanuel Quickley and a second-round pick heading to Toronto in exchange for two-way stalwart O.G. Anunoby, Precious Achiuwa and Malachi Flynn, per Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium:
Basketball fans were using one simple word to describe the trade in favor of the Raptors:
The 26-year-old Anunoby should fit nicely in Tom Thibodeau’s stingy defensive system. The 2019 NBA Champion is averaging 15.1 points, 3.9 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game this season with a superb 48.9 field goal percentage.
For the Raptors, this is likely the first of several moves by the front office to begin a retool/rebuild. All-Star Pascal Siakam, in the final year of his contract, is Toronto’s top trade chip to monitor leading up to the deadline.
