Drake’s Dad Says He Supports R. Kelly ‘100 Percent’ and Claims Jussie Smollett Is ‘Misunderstood’

Dennis Graham revealed R. Kelly is a “good friend” of his and said Jussie Smollett is “misunderstood” during a recent interview

Drake‘s dad Dennis Graham is opening up about his embattled friends — R. Kelly and Jussie Smollett amid their recent scandals.

During an interview about his new single, Graham was asked about Kelly, who this week pleaded not guilty to 10 counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse against four alleged victims.

Telling Variety that the “Ignition” singer is “a good friend of mine,” Graham said: “I wish him the best.”

“I hate that it’s happening to him. There’s a reason why women come out after the fact. He has my support 100 percent.”

Graham also threw his support behind Smollett — who has been accused of staging a “bogus” attack against himself — saying the actor “has been misunderstood.”

“As a matter of fact, they know that. That story that came out about Jussie in Chicago is not true about Jussie. Jussie is a friend of mine, also. They have totally reconstructed his story.”

Smollett was arrested last week and is facing a felony charge of disorderly conduct. If convicted, he could serve up to three years in prison.

The Empire actor has denied the allegations and maintains his innocence.

In addition to standing by both Kelly and Smollett, Graham spoke to Variety about his new single “That on That.”

“I made it about 10 years ago. My brother and my cousin Tone Bling, we were just in my apartment. Tone came up with the track and I wrote the words to it.”

Graham’s latest track comes just as his son Drake celebrates the tenth anniversary of third mixtape So Far Gone, which propelled his music career.
