Chris Brown is pushing back after receiving criticism for supporting Kanye West at a listening party for his latest single.
The R&B artist, 34, was featured in a video clip shared on X, formerly known as Twitter, rocking out as the lyrics ‘How I’m antisemitic? I just f**ked a Jewish b**ch,’ played loudly over the speakers.
After comments such as ‘You are disgusting,’ and ‘What’s more sickening? The lyrics… Or the fact that both Kanye West and @chrisbrownofficial find it hysterical?’ were posted in reaction to the viral video, the Go Crazy artist quickly took to social media to diffuse the situation.
Referring to Chris Brown’s notorious attack on Rihanna in 2009, one enraged critic wrote, ‘Chris Brown an abuser and Kanye West a psychotic narcissistic self-proclaimed mastermind.’
On Sunday, the How We Roll singer posted the following statement on Instagram.
‘In no way, shape, or form am I antisemitic!!!
‘I’m pro life and I make music for the entire world!!!!!! So please do no think I spread hate or am kool with it!
He shared the statement on Instagram Stories, but added the addendum, explaining, ‘This is for the millions of young kids that look up to and my be confused.’
The Pills & Automobiles artist has come a long way in rebuilding his career after legal problems that included pleading guilty to charges he assaulted Rihanna in 2009 and being sentenced to anger management treatment in 2013.
Since then, he has been accused of assault several times.
The singer, like Kanye, 46, has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder. He has also been diagnosed with post-traumatic disorder.
Late last year, Kanye saw his career fall apart after a string of antisemitic outbursts, including a vow to go ‘death con 3 on JEWISH PEOPLE.’
In October 2022, shortly after that tweet, the Praise God rapper told Piers Morgan he only meant to take aim at certain specific Jews, who he felt exploited him.
Incendiary: The song includes the incendiary lyric ”How I’m antisemitic? I just f**ked a Jewish b**ch,’ and Chris and other guests at the party were seen dancing to the controversial single by the controversial rapper
When the talk show host contended the comments were ‘as racist as anything you’ve been through,’ the Gold Digger rapper retorted ‘that’s why I said it. I fought fire with fire.’
In an interview with right wing talk show host Alex Jones in early December, Kanye praised Hitler for his ‘redeeming qualities’.
He also maintained that the ‘Holocaust is not what happened’ and promoted the conspiracy theory that Black people are the real Jews.
The consequences of these statements were that the hitmaker lost his lucrative contracts with The Gap, Adidas and Balenciaga and more.
He was also dropped by his management team at Creative Artists Agency.
Chris’ fans seemed to be willing to give the claims he is not antisemitic the benefit of the doubt.
Actor and producer Elijah Long, who has a home in Dubai, where the party was held wrote, ‘I’m So tired of tap dancing around “them!” It’s sad we have to come out and make statements like this. We Cutting this umbilical cord they have connected to us real soon! It’s been strangling us for far too long.’
‘They always trying to pull the anti Semitic card but yet people are allowed to bash black and brown people all day long in the name of free speech,’ one fan stated.
‘Damn champ why won’t they let you live, you just be dancing and minding your business.’ wrote another supporter.
Although the hitmaker seems to have made no formal statements about the current hostilities between Israel and Hamas, many credited him for supporting the Palestinian cause.
‘It’s not antisemitism to support Palestine. It just makes you human for not being okay with innocent children dying,’ contended one fan.
