Blockbuster Trade Rejected Involving Canucks Elias Pettersson Recent Revealed

To Canucks – Brett Pesce, Martin Necas and a draft pick

This kind of blockbuster deal would have reshaped both teams and changed the landscape in their divisions. Canucks President Jim Rutherfordwho was once the GM of the Carolina Hurricanes for many years is known to making deals this big as he likes to swing and try to hit well on these major deals.

But it was clear that both teams could not find a path to make this deal happen and the deal was ultimately rejected by the Canucks. The Hurricanes ended up keeping Necas and signing him to a new two year deal that holds a cap hit 6.5 million per season.

The 25-year-old has been absolutely on fire this year and has 44 points through 36 games which makes his deal even that much more attractive.
Pettersson Has begun the first year of his eight-year deal worth $92 million holding a cap hit of $11.5 million per season.

Canucks player problems continue

Since his signing there has been an ongoing issue between him and JT Miller where it’s been reported a rift has formed between the two players.

Pettersson has been dealing with an injury and has seen his production drop dramatically as he has played 34 games, scoring ten goals with 18 assists for 28 points and is at -3.

For the moment, it appears back Carolina has gotten the better end of this non deal and with keeping Brett Pesce in the mix it continues to strengthen Carolina’s position within the metropolitan division and will likely help them secure a playoff spot.

Meanwhile, Pettersson and the Canucks will need to find a way to iron out the problems and get back to winning hockey while the rest of the Pacific division hopes that does not happen.
